[3rd] building earl & his sister but was doubtful about it after. Anyway there is (or was) a printed label on the back, the girls name I think was Katherine but am not sure. I have never taken the trouble to
catalogue my own pictures.' The children appear to be a girl under five and a boy under three years old, but no recorded children of the Howards of Castle Howard fit these approximate ages and the date of the portrait.
